You know what my favorite part of Valentine's Day is? Not the champagne or chocoloate, but the music. Curtis Mayfield, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Bettye Lavette and Sam Cooke all go into heavy rotation at my place every February 14th.
If you bring those same vibes forward about a quarter-century, you arrive at tonight's Valentine's Day themed concert at DROM (located at 85 Avenue A) in the East Village. The night starts off with a set by the Bed-Stuy based soul singer Kat Webb, and is followed by the Lo Frequency, a versitile and charismatic group that plays its own signature blend of Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz, and has performed in every setting from a tour with Jazz at Lincoln Center to Hip-Hop house parties. Live music is followed by a DJ set from The Secret Service.
Drom is located at 85 Avenue A, 10pm-2am, Tickets are $15
