Happy Canada Day, to all my friends up north! Sometimes - especially on sweltering days like this - I wish I lived under the Maple Leaf.
As it happens, I'm headed back to Montreal this week for the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal - better known as the Montreal Jazz Festival. In the city that knows how to put on a festival better than anyone, the Jazz Festival is the biggest and best of them all, spreading out over two full weeks and taking over the entire Place des Arts with a range of shows that covers everything from jazz to electronic music, much of it free. I'll be up there for the tail end of it, and will try to cram in as much as I can.
In the meantime, you can head over to WBGO 88.3FM, where Michael Bourne is broadcasting from the festival for the 20th consecutive year. I look forward to picking up my press credentials on Thursday from the Michael Bourne Press Room, named in his honor this year. Guess I've got a ways to go.
