Henry Fogel, the President of the American Symphony Orchestra League and the former President of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, has an occasional blog, On the Record, which offers an establishment view of the American orchestra world. I honestly don't spend much time there, but I happened to stumble across it today, and found this speech by Peter Sellars, given at last June's league conference in Los Angeles. Listen to it if you have the time (it's only about 10 minutes.) It is why this blog exists.
