The Tambourine In Brooklyn

I didn't have a ticket to see Bob Dylan last night at the Prospect Park Bandshell, but it was still a magical evening, with an overflow crowd that spilled all the way down to the ballfields. Dylan delivered a gravelly, two-hour set of ancient hits ("Rainy Day Women #12 & 35"; "Like a Rolling Stone") and blues-rock joints from Time Out of Mind and Modern Times. My friend Pete was in the 8th row, and said it was like watching Jesus come to Brooklyn. Hardly the first time someone's made that comparison.
