I'm on a school bus, on my way to the Rare Forest for a "Soundwalk" hosted by Canadian composer/acoustic ecologist R. Murray Schaefer. We've been told that the performance begins here, in the ambient sounds of muddled conversation and passing cars on the highway. Pictures aren't allowed on the walk itself, which will include a mix of live outdoor performances and sound installations, so you'll just have to use your imagination.
