After hanging out with my new friend Nick for the better part of the evening, we ended up at the Australian/New Zealand social club Tranzac around 11:30 last night to find these two Quebecois folkies lighting up the room of a half-dozen or so. "Usually, this place has far more interesting stuff going on," Nick told me, showing me a sax case in the corner filled with CD's from Rat Drifting and other local indie and experimental labels. Upstairs, we found both the Toronto Zine Library and the offices of the Blocks Recording Club, home to Final Fantasy and others. Oh, and they have great beer. Damnit, why can't there be more places like this in Brooklyn?
