As with last weekend's Newport Folk Festival, NPR is broadcasting and streaming this weekend's Jazz Festival. Onstage now is none other than Darcy, making his Newport debut with the Secret Society. Unfortunately, saxophonist/composer Bob Brookmeyer was ill and unable to join for the piece Darcy wrote for him: "Blow-out Prevention," a none-too-subtle dig at the British oil company of the same initials. But, it still sounded marvelous on my stereo, as did the wondrous "Phobos." Sorry I couldn't be there in person, Darcy. Next year.
