A great set in front of a packed house Friday night at LPR with the Chiara Quartet playing Jefferson Friedman's haunting, dystopic 3rd string quartet (last heard during the Ecstatic Music Festival marathon), followed by a collaboration with electronic wonder duo Matmos on selections from their 2008 release, Supreme Balloon. Drew and Martin played synths and effects over the quartet while trippy, near-static visuals played in the background. 

Before, NOW ensemble played live to a new film by Josh Frankel which featured members of the ensemble in a Yellow-Submarine type fantasy in various NYC locales. Clearly, a lot of effort was expended on it, both on the part of the filmmaker and musicians. And, that's about the best thing I have to say about it.
