Electric Zoo 2011

Picture1For those who haven't heard, the 3rd annual Electric Zoo festival is happening up on Randalls Island this weekend. The festival, produced by longtime local promoters Made Events, has quickly emerged as NYC's premier electronic music event, if not one of the largest in the U.S. (They've still got a ways to go before they catch up to Sonar's heady mix of commercial and experimental electronic music.) Expanding to three days this year, the lineup reads like a who's who of the contemporary DJ circuit: Tiesto, David Guetta, John Digweed, Moby, and many, many others.

Most of my weekend is tied up with other plans, but I'm hoping to at least make it out on Sunday, which features everyone from Armin van Buren, to Diplo, to NYC wunderkind Nicolas Jaar (Craigslist permitting.)

See below for a clip from last year's festival. And, if you're headed out tonight to see Tiesto, be sure to ask for his version of "Adagio for Strings" (yes, that one).
