One Last Gasp

The Palms_Long Island City_11.9.5_003There may still be more outdoor shows planned in NYC over the next month or so, but last night's closing party at The Palms in Long Island City felt like summer's last gasp. Hosted by longtime underground party promoter The Danger, organizers took over an abandoned bank building last month in the heart of Queens Plaza - right underneath the Citibank skyscraper - and converted it into a Miami-style beach club, complete with dumpster pools, cabanas, and music all through the night. Over the past month, there have occasionally been "live" acts such as Chicago's Supreme Cuts (basically, two guys banging on Kaoss Pads), but mostly it was the DJ's who got the place up and dancing. Or swimming.
