Warm Up at MoMA PS1 with Cibo Matto and Mister Saturday Night
If it's summer, it must be time for Warm Up. Now in it's 17th year, the Saturday afternoon dance party in the courtyard of MoMA PS1 has long been NYC's hippest warm weather destination for those who like a little arty style with their beats. This past weekend, veteran NYC duo Cibo Matto - who released their first album in 15 years earlier this year - played a quirky, funk-fueled set with Miho Hatori's yelping singing and rapping bolstered by Nels Cline's (a.k.a. Mr. Yuka Honda) guitar assault. They were followed by resident DJ's Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter of Mister Saturday Night/Mister Sunday, who've relocated their own weekly outdoor dance party to Industy City in Sunset Park. All in all, not a bad way to spend a beautiful Satruday in the city.
