A massive crowd gathered at the Prospect Park Bandshell tonight to open the 37th season of Celebrate Brooklyn with a free performance by R&B legend Chaka Khan, whose protean, wide-ranging voice belied her 62 years. She was joined by her full band, including Melvin Davis (bass, musical director), Rob Bacon (guitar), Ron Bruner (drums), Jesse Milliner (keys), and backup vocalists Tiffany Smith, Audrey Wheeler-Downing, and Kudisan Kai Regalot.
